New name for the Match Lake - Grimshaws Lake

Postby AlanMiller » Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:36 pm

As a way of remembering Alan Grimshaw for the work he has done for this club over the past 21 Years as the Chairman the Directors have decided to call this newly purchased lake “Grimshaw’s Lake”.

The purchase of this lake was completed earlier this year at almost the same time as Alan became ill, and to rename this lake was only right since it was never used or practical as a match lake.

You will possibly notice that John and Ian the bailiffs in this area have spent a lot of time improving the pegs and the landscaping around this lake – in my opinion they have made an excellent job of this area.

In the near future we are to designate a conservation area on this lake similar to that on the Pride Lake – this area of bank will remain un-fished and give the opportunity for wildlife to flourish and have some form of protection.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Alan Grimshaw.

I think it is a very nice idea re-naming the match lake in his memory.

Maybe as and idea , would it not be nice to get some signs made, with the name of each lake on. Similar to the one as you enter the complex. These could maybe be placed in each carp park next to the lake they represent.

Maybe the "Grimshaws lake" lake one could have a plaque on, with something along the lines of:

Named in memory Alan Grimshaw, 30 years as director and Chairman...

Alan,
I didn't know Alan Grimshaw - A great decision made and a lovely idea that I am sure will be appreciated by his family.
Well Done.

A lovely gesture and I think it's an improvement on just "match lake"
