the pike fishing is excellent below sawley weir in the slack water on either side of the river. Ive had 4 different 20's from this stretch. I mainly fish with deads, although surface lures are excellent early in the morning.

the confluence of the derwent and trent/mersey canal where it enters the trent is also good... two pegs down from the mouth of the derwent. again its mainly deads although ive had the odd fish on lures on the last few pegs of the derwent.

i only ever fish the river stretches but ive heard of decent pike on the complex

Its a bit too hot for the fish as well at the minute mate.Had a go on the derwent and didn't see a fish, only small roach and perch chasing my lure. There were a few blokes trying for barbel and they hadn't had a sniff either.Nevermind there's always tomorrow as they say.

The Dove's fishing well tho' ;) sorry,

On a serious note, the Redhouse lake is the only serious still water left to the modest angler, is it doing anything??
