    Is there a Hints and Tips section, where we could post for help and give advice on fishing related queries?
    Plus, is there a For Sale section. Just in case someone might want to sell a few floats etc etc.

    Hi All Prideites…

    Well, my name is Alan Falconbridge and I am 39 years of age 😉

    I was a late starter really in course fishing, in my younger years I did a little sea fishing with my father off the coast of Devon and Cornwall for mackerel and Pollock on our family holidays; mainly from the shore but sometimes out on the boat called Fran 🙂

    Then in the mid to late 90’s I decided to start course fishing with my dad’s brother Shane, Shane was carp angling at the time but I was fishing for Tench and Bream on the Quiver tip. 90% of our fishing was on on the coal-board no5 ticket, Osmonds pond mainly with a few trips to mapperley. Well one day Shane left me looking after his two rod set-up whilst he nipped to the car for something…Yep that’s when carping struck me, right and rod roared off and the optonic was singing out loud and it was my (his..lol) first cap and was a upper double on a believe tiger nutt’s taken from the dam wall on Osmonds…

    Anyway the weekend later I was fishing for carp :-), had quite a good success rate in them early days and a PB mirror of 20lb 2oz from Higham Farm stood for a vary long time. I then started to meet women and try the alcohol a little, that’s when I sold all my gear and didn’t fish for a very long time.

    Then during a family holiday in devon with my wife and kids, the eldest lad wanted to do a bit of spinning for mackerel in Dartmouth harbour so he purchased a little rod setup. I started to show him how to get on, rod in hand it all came back so off I popped and got myself a little setup. We spent most of the holiday on the harbour side that holiday fishing 😆

    The fishing bug had got me again!!! Carp set-up ordered and back on the banks fishing, I started to concentrate on Allestree in Derby and straight away started getting good results. But then quickly realised that Allestree wasn’t quite cutting it 🙁 The lake and and the fish are extremely nice but being a park lake fishing through the weekend is like setting up in the middle of medowhall except all the passes by have dogs and the dogs like going in the water specially when the dog owner throws a tennis ball in the water just past your rod tips.

    So I had got the bug and it was back for good this time and I was in need of a water with some quality fish, secure with no public and a good chance of catching a british 30. That’s when I found pride of derby 😉

    I have been a member of Pride now coming up to I think 4 years in June 2014, I have had great success on both grimshaws and redhouse and smashing my British PB with the big common out of redhouse on my 12th session weighing in at 37lb 3oz. I know there are plenty of other great captures on this complex so you will see me around for quite some time :silly:

    Hi all
    My name is Andy
    I was in the Army for 19yrs before a messy divorce and an injury sustained in Northern Ireland made me realise it’s time to get out.
    I did miss it for the first 4yrs, but my now wifey soon changed that 😆
    I’m classed as semi ambient disabled and wifey carries all my stuff for me seeing as I can’t walk far.
    Being an ex squaddie, I always thought that fishing was like watching paint dry, that was until the inlaws took it up.
    It was in the summer holidays when they asked our son to go along with them. There was a kids match on the Moat, by Coopers Arms and my son wanted join.
    By the time wifey and I got there, he had a few fish in the net.
    I asked father in law if I could have a go, and within 4mins I had a nice roach in my hand.
    From that day I was hooked.
    I spent most of my time fishing Coopers Lake, and at £3 a pop, it started to get a bit expensive, especially when you go 5 times per week.
    There was one week that sticks in my mind, my PB 19lb 8oz Common plus a total of 63 5lb and up. Wifey tried doing crossword puzzles, but never had the chance to finish any because she was too busy landing my fish.
    I do like to catch carp, but I’m not the sort of angler who can afford all the barrows, bivvies etc etc.

    I like to fish, when I can and I’m dying to have an overnight session. Alas wifey will not allow that to happen. (Miserable git)
    I will be the ripe old age of 51 in March and having to start a totally new PB list seeing as I’ve lost my old one.
    Pike fishing for me is a bit daunting, but I would love to catch one and lose the fear of them.
    I would love to catch either a Perch or Pike on the fly.

    I’m always good for a laugh, friendly and don’t take things too seriously. 9 times out of 10 you will see me with the wifey on the bank, or if it’s cold, she will be sat in the car keeping warm.
    I only joined the club this year and I’m still trying to get used to the ponds, so any hints and tips would be greatly received.
