Hello mate, and welcome to the club.

I would really recommend going onto Grimshaws lake initially if you’re after a bend in the rod. This has a greater stock of carp than any other, if that’s what you’re after and will give you the best chance of catching as the other lakes are considerably harder.

Any sort of bait will go well on there, just make sure you try and locate them as you get there, and don’t be afraid to move if you see the fish elsewhere. As the weather warms up give the floaters a go in one of the warmer/shallower corners as they’ll congregate there.

Redhouse lake is a different kettle of fish all together. Such a smaller stock, on a bigger lake which can be very elusive at times. Again, watercraft is essential on here.
