lure fishing

I’ve had some very good sport just above the weir (between the bouys and the wire itself) and directly below in the fast/white water for pike on the lures (pike to just over 14lb) also had a very large perch attached at one stage, sadly it didn’t make it to the bank. What sort of lures you been useing? Nearly all mine come to 8″ black dawgs with bright orange tails, anything I always seem to just get follows..

I’ve been catching on savage 4plays and also on rubber shads mate. I’ve also been catching on wobbled smelt quite well around the pipe bridge. Not much point going at the minute though as the river is chocolate and can’t see it improving much over the next week or too.

Hi guys
I’m fairly new to river fishing and would love to be able to catch a pike.
Would prefer to start off small seeing as I’m a bit nervous where pike come in.
I’ve done a bit of lure fishing for Perch and had some success 🙂 and nearly caught a Jack but it came off.

I would love to along if anyone is out Piking, to see how it’s done, and hopefully calm these nerves.
I can’t explain the feeling I had when I had that Jack, but I was glad in the end that it did drop off, because I wasn’t too ofhey about handling it.
I’ve watched thousands of vids etc on handling pike, but I suppose experience will come when I catch one.
I just don’t want to hurt the fish in any way due to mishandling. If you know what I mean.

Anyway, if there is anyone who doesn’t mind me tagging along, it would be most welcome
