New River Trent section for our members

Looks good with possible easy access. I will have a proper look over the weekend if its not too overgrown as I have never fished below the weir. It used to be a short match length years back. How many pegs do you think will be re-created Alan ?

Possibly 8 pegs when work is complete – should be good barbel water but the other asset is for parking when fishing the section below the weir.

Fantastic news.

The stretch just after the weir (and before Tamworth road bridge) used to be Barbel central in the mid 90’s before all the banks wore away.

Would be nice to have the other bank attended to as well (opposite the hut bank), fishable now it’s really low but is really awkward when the river is at more normal levels.

‘you are welcome to use the fishing in this section which extends from above the caravan’, so perhaps one more peg upstream ? Not sure if there is a fence or barrier in place but I’m sure that notice boards will eventually be installed.

Pride lock now on the gate at the back of the Harrington arms – anglers now welcome to use this access to park and get to the fishing on this section and up to the weir.

Good fishing that side of the river

Met the new owner of the wooden chalet yesterday, just a head’s up as he appears to have a real bee in his bonnet about Pride having access. He flagged me down attempting to say we was ripping up the access, which was nonsense, I was driving very slowly and not even leaving tracks behind me and there was no grass even ripped up along the track from previous access. I explained we have the fishing access to the bank, and my understanding it is shared access, as he was claiming it was his private land etc. Post our little encounter, he then proceeded to lock the combo lock around the gate and fence, in an attempt to revoke our access/ lock me in. Not sure if the club want to reach out to him and get things set to avoid more members possibly being locked in, as it happens my friend had the combination, so I was able to open the combo put the lock back into the POD padlock, but it appears the new owner might become an issue regards access.

Worrying
Was going to use the new access next weekend too, think i’ll avoid and just park in the pub until this is resolved. Thanks for the heads up.

Do not worry – this is our legal ( Shared ) access as noted on the sale agreement and land registry document. Please continue to use this access which the Pride of Derby purchased – combination number for the lock is 4612 if for any reason you get locked in.
