Hi. The decision to secure the Lafarge Gate each night was made by the Directors last January, this action was made following information received that Fish were being stolen from local Fisheries during the hours of darkness. We were also made aware that this entrance was being used during the very early hours being between 02:00 and 03:00. As you all may well know many of our Complex areas are covered by CCTV and are monitored by ourselves, one of the areas being our Main Entrance. This Gate is secured each day by myself a Bailiff or The Site Maintenance Manager. I hope this explains some of the reasoning behind the actions taken. Regards Ian Hole.

Hi. Yes I’m afraid the Lock Barrel came detached from the lock a couple of days ago. A new Gate Lock has now been cased and will be fitted at some point this week. Please note that this gate will continue to be locked overnight as a Security precaution for our Fishery. Regards Ian

Thanks Ian. It’ll be good to get out of that gate rather than the main one as its so much safer turning right during the day time.

Hello, I hope everyone is having a good easter.
Can I please ask the reasons why the Grimshaw gate is locked a lot of the time? Most days it’s locked early to mid afternoon, when I thought it was only going to be locked at night time.
Today it was several cars deep and causing chaos at the other gate. There were cars blocking access and queuing up on the main road, where as if the Grimshaws gate was usable it would help elevate the problem of backing up traffic due to the large lay-by in front of it.

Sorry its taken so long to answer your query – yes we understand your concerns of the gate closure adjacent to the Grimshaws lake. We will when we have the necessary personnel on site leave the gate open longer.
The reason for the gate closure at nights is for the security of anglers on the bank and if we could we would close both gates at night but this is not possible due to potential emergency needs.

We are aware of significant vehicle movements on occasions during the night – it’s difficult to see why any vehicles should be moving around the site up until 3am ?
but I am assured they are –

It must be most disconcerting to anglers on the bank when vehicles are passing by them late into the night – security being a significant issue to most anglers.

In order to counter this and to verify good reason for this type of vehicle movement we are to carry out random vehicle gate checks and anyone who cannot give a good reason why they are moving about on site late into the night will be asked to move off site and if necessary have their tickets removed.

If persons are on site without necessary licences they will have their keys taken from them and if necessary the police will be informed.

Hope this answers your concern ?

Thank you for the reply Alan
I totally understand why it’s locked during the night, and great that it is, but why at 2pm like it is most days?

Sorry but its just about when we have personnel on site – when we can make it later we will – we only have one full time person on site –
