The Stock in Poysers currently stands at as follows…Tench x 500…Carp x 220…125Ib of Bream went in when pond was De-Silted plus Roach and Skimmers have been introduced. Caution of overstocking must be looked at prior to introducing more stock…!! This ponds depth is approx 4′ at normal summer level..!! Please note the above stock are coming on really well, be nice to see how the Tench are doing this year. Last summer plenty of small Mirrors and Commons were being caught at about 2″ so spawning had taken place, and all healthy fish too. Ian

only just seen this post but i also seen around 4 or 5 fishing below the weir around two week ago. this is my first season with pride so i just walked away and rang the secretary who sent somebody down. he did say its been reported before but by the time anybody got there they had gone so prob same outcome this time. dont want to take laws into my own hands in my first season but im willing to help out if pride want my help??
i asked one lad ( all ENGLISH by the way) if he had caught anything… said a few bits but his mates, further up at the weir, campfire, home made shelter etc, had caught four pike. he looked a bit nervous and said he was teaching his little brother how to fish… IN CLOSED SEASON??!!!!! GOOD START CHAMP!!!!

The fishing potential below Sawley Weir was one thing that influenced my decision to buy a POD ticket.
I walked down there two weeks ago and saw evidence of rough camping, fires etcetera. I was planning to do some night fishing there for Barbel but I am not going to feel comfortable fishing there alone. I suspect that very little can be done by the POD Officials using the law.
What plans are in place to improve the situation for paying members??

It’s a shame the club doesn’t allow shotguns on the bank!

Unfortunately the EE’s know that they are likely to go unchallenged especially as in some cases they come down mob handed. I’m not a member of Earl of Harrington but they employ a couple of Polish bailiff’s and this seems to work for them. They’re more likely to challenge poachers and basically tell them to “do one”.

That is brilliant! Polish Bailiffs? That’s the solution!

I also wonder why more clubs don’t get together and agree to bailiff each others waters particularly if clubs have fishing rights on adjoining stretches of river. It’s just unfortunate that rivers do tend to get neglected these days due to the lack of people fishing them.

Again; another brilliant idea Simon. It is for the common good so why is it not being done? A team of Polish Bailiffs working on behalf of a number of clubs. It makes perfect sense.
