Thanks for taking the time to reply biggy 1988. Much appreciated. They’ve got to be worth a try.

I’m not so bothered about footie now – I much prefer fishing except for the occasional big match. Good to know for future reference though.

Can anyone recommend a good local pub with real ale and decent food (that’s not too expensive) near to Pride? Now the footie season’s over I can just concentrate on the bare necessities of life? I’ll give the Sawley ones a go in the meantime – all in the name of research of course.

Was lucky enough to net this Olvers 23lber about an hour after the rain stopped. Well worth getting drenched for.

Out in the thunderstorm yesterday. One of those times when you’re really not sure if you want a bite anyway.

Love them or loathe them, they do look cute at this age. Probably only a couple of weeks old. Taken on Poysers pond.

Picture of Grimleys from 2 days ago. The other half of the lake has had a number of trees cut back but both stilll look chocolate box pretty and incredibly peaceful.

I think this is a Pied Wagtail from the same area. The pied wagtail and yellow wagtail nest nowhere else in the world except Britain.

One of several Yellow Wagtails on Pride lake left Nature Reserve swim tonight. It usually spends winter in Africa and returns to Britain in the summer. It is on the RSPBs red list of conservation concerns due to a 43% decline in breeding numbers in the last 20 years or so.

I hope you enjoy it. Its a great time of year and I think the lakes seem to fish well in Spring so with luck you’ll get to a good start.

Hi Dazzer, welcome to the POD and the forum. I hope this doesn’t sound critical but I wonder if you’ve seen the posts under Any Tips in the Redhouse section of this site? There’s some generous posts on there eg by Alan Brinsley, which will give you a good start. Apologies if you’ve already seen them. Good luck and tight lines.

No worries, I think that was John the Baptist.
