A new lake record for the Redhouse Lake was caught by Ryan Bisal -of Netbusters on his first visit to Redhouse lake on his new Pride of Derby ticket- the fish caught on the 15th October was this stunning common carp of weight 46 lbs 2oz – congratulations Ryan but i must tell you not every visit will be like this ?

Junior Training
In order to sponsor adequately for fishing equipment for the junior training we are supporting we now have a scheme where members might be able to help – we all have fishing tackle in our garages/ sheds that we no longer use – too good to throw away but cannot be bothered to offer up for sale – we have the answer – give it to us to sell and with the cash raised we will put money to it and buy decent gear for the juniors use – everyone a winner – please help and when next on the complex pass the unwanted gear you have to Paul, Ian, Dean or Stuart and they will do the rest – Thankyou –

I am sorry to advise that again there is a significant risk of the KHV virus from a fishery in the near area and because of this for the protection of our fishery we are implementing the precaution of banning the use of keepnets in our lakes and ponds on the Tamworth Road complex – ie Pride lake, Olvers lake- Grimshaws lake, Redhouse lake and Poysers pond. Further notice will be given when this concern is reduced to an acceptable level.

On Monday the 29th we have arranged for a new site “welfare unit” to be installed – this will have “in time” available to our members a single shower unit and two toilets – we are also planning for the installation of a freestanding cold water supply tap for our members use.

Following the Welfare unit installation we have to arrange for the power supply to the unit and the cold water supply plus an effluent tank so it may be some weeks before this is available to you.

We hope our members will respect the units when installed and always leave in a good clean condition.

We have no plans to make any changes to our tickets or the Premium ticket waters. These waters have consistently improved since the introduction of the Premium ticket possibly due to the reduction of pressure on the waters.

Hi All
Its seems the rumour machines work better than the facts ?- this has always been the case on the Pride of Derby – but make life interesting anyway – the stocking of the Redhouse lake was made by deliberate actions in the early days of this lake – stocking of small carp – roach and bream in the late 1990s – also in the late 1990s the Pride Lake was stocked with carp ( mainly commons) from a British Waterways stocking program ran by a Mr Keith Fisher ( fisheries manager at the British Waterways) the Pride of Derby bought 500 of these fish – they were fast growing brilliant fish. They were doing very well and in 2002 they were frequently caught at weight sup to 12 lbs – in the winter of 2002 the River Trent was exposed to a unprecedented flood – carp were seen on Tamworth Road which was flooded and also went into the Olvers lake and some down the roadway ( before the flood bank was completed to the Redhouse lake.) Also in more recent floods fish stocked by Derby Railway into the Silt Lake also went intothe Redhouse lake. The Redhouse Lake has also lost fish to the Floods into the River Trent and gained some of different varieties from this source. So the absolute answer and truth is we do not know what is in the lake – when the fish are in process of spawning it is a joy to see the quantity of fish that are their – but catching them is another issue ? as you will find out. We do know that following surveys by the Environment Agency they say because of the volume of natural food it’s a wonder that anyone catches any fish at all ? Not what you want to hear but the truth anyway. Also in conclusion the 44lb fish is one that got away in 2002 from the Pride Lake.!!!! Also for information Keith Fisher is now one of the Pride of Derby Directors – whose help and expertise in managing this fishery is very much appreciated.

With a great sigh of relief, we can now advise that the risk of KHV transfer is now noted as “very low” and as such the ban in the use of keep nets can be lifted.

Please though be very vigilant in ensuring that keep nets – Landing Nets and Unhooking mats are air dried before use in our waters.

Sorry – we should have answered this one earlier – did not see it until late – at present we do not have a family membership and since there has been no demand we have no plans for this. If you thought your wife might in time have wanted full membership then Ian Hole could have loaned her a ticket for the day / night she wished to fish.

Mr. LACHOJSKI – ( sorry i don’t know your christian name ) You are of course correct – we will decide at the time of the check if the rule has been broken of what action is to be taken – could be loss of Ticket for most serious offence or ticket marked to indicate first offence of less serious nature – but to be sure any offence following ticket being marked “will” result in ticket loss.
