If you call Ian Hole he can renew online if your have credit card or debit card – otherwise its by post also to Ian Hole as noted in your ticket.

For all members remember to get your ticket by the 15th June if you wish to continue to fish our waters.

Anyone who has not renewed by 16th June will not have continuous membership and will be deleted from the waiting list for the Premium ticket.

Thank you Paul – we night in the future take you up on your offer.

In the meantime due to your concerns of rubbish around your peg we had Stuart ( Site Manager) take a look around all pegs on the Grimshaws Lake and he collected three black bags of rubbish from around the pegs and in the surrounding bushes – all left by our members – this is not acceptable that Stuart has to use his time la clearing the mess left by supposed anglers. We do now know that this area is clear of all rubbish and in an effort to find and remove these persons from our club our bailiffs will be taking ticket numbers of anglers fishing each of the pegs with their respective peg numbers – we will check again each Monday and any litter left in any of the pegs therefore will be theirs and they will be responsible and removed from our club. .

In our lease it is not indicated that night fishing is not allowed therefore until we are notified otherwise night fishing is allowed in all areas.

No rule changes – you are right Numpty the sign indicating Monday to Friday is in reference to the notice concerning the carp retention nets. Fishing on all of our waters is for full weeks unless we put up a notice specifically advised otherwise.

I would agree with your sentiments of pike in Grimshaws if it was restricted to this water only but pike predation takes place in all of our waters – I fish the Trent and the Ully Gully and have good quality roach taken by Pike – it’s very annoying and upsetting but not something the club can do anything about – On Poysers which is far easier to manage Pike are removed when caught by persons authorized to make transfers.

Pike are a natural predator and maintain the balance of fish population in any water – at present the population of roach in Grimshaws is massive – all feeding on high protein baits put in by Carp anglers at weekends – this water at present is very healthy and long may it continue.

The pike in Poysers at present are not a significant problem – and we plan regular netting and electric fishing for removal of large carp and Pike which in Poysers is possible.

With respect to Pike fishing on Olvers and Pride lake i know of no rule that prevents this – if you wish to dead bait or lure fish on either of these as a premium ticket holder then please go ahead.
Please be considerate to the carp anglers present.

As for the rules of baits to be used this is intended to be with respect to carp fishing and as with the wording of any rules can have unintended interpretations and it seem this is one of them – please pike fish using the methods noted above.

I share your concerns of the number of pike in the Grimshaws lake – but the answer is not so easy because as you remove one Pike another smaller more hungry one takes its place – if the balance of Predator and food source is disturbed i.e. reduced number of roach the bigger pike turn on the smaller pike for their diet.
You cannot change nature – the number of roach in this lake is massive hence the number of Pike to maintain the balance –
As for the EA rules on taking fish – this is their rule but they do not the waters – we do – we make the rules and we don’t like the killing fish of any type – hence our rules – as for Poysers we have regular netting – or electric fishing to remove any pike – we will plan for this again this year. In a small water like Poysers it’s a lot easier to remove any larger pike but even their you cannot get them all so it will be an ongoing issue. One positive point about Pike is that they they generally only take damages or sickly fish and so therefore keep the water healthy.

New complex record – 52lbs common caught out of Pride Lake on Saturday morning ( early) from the double peg on motorway bank by Ian Smith – fish is known as hoover ?

Do not worry – this is our legal ( Shared ) access as noted on the sale agreement and land registry document. Please continue to use this access which the Pride of Derby purchased – combination number for the lock is 4612 if for any reason you get locked in.

Of course we cannot guarantee no debris went into the river from the demolition of the Long Horse bridge but we did see the bridge taken down by British Waterways in a controlled manner.

The river features though change every year and every flood causes changes to the features under the water – you note that the river is shallower on the pegs downstream of the Derwent – but i fished from the concrete apron on Wednesday of this week and found the opposite – the river depth at my rod end was approximately 5 feet deep and clear of weed – the previous year it was shallow and very weedy for a distance out. So the floods early this year have scoured out the silt bottom of the river – these pegs are now great stick float pegs with plenty of roach to be caught.

At present we have no photographs of the demolition in 2003 – this was carried out by British Waterways who had barges beneath the sections as they were removed so very little went into the river – all major sections were taken away as it would not be in BW interest to have large sections of the bridge in the river and liable to damage passing boat traffic- after all its BW who is responsible for the safe navigation on this river.
I don’t think they would be concerned about anglers though ?
