With the ticket renewal period now underway, would it be possible to organise a few dates where tickets would be able to be renewed at the complex ?
For example the first Sunday of April, May, June where tickets can be renewed at the carpark by the storage/shower area between 10 and 12.
If needed confirmation of attendance on a particular weekend can be given by E-mail/Text to allow ticket preparation.

I think the sign you have seen refers to the Carp retention nets that are in the water.
It used to say that any Carp over 8lbs is to be placed in these nets, (for removal into the larger waters), and a Bailiff informed. (Mon to Fri only).

Weekend angling on Poysers is allowed, (unless the rules have changed in the last week), although sometimes the pond gets closed in Summer for a day, to allow junior anglers and beginners to have an introduction to angling.

Thank you for the response, and clarification of the clubs stance on fish removal.
I feel that if the status quo remains on Grimshaws, you will get fewer silver fish anglers on the water for the reasons that I have previously explained. It will become another water dedicated to the Carp angler, with the occasional Pike angler for the colder months.
Silvers anglers already struggle to fish Grimshaws in warmer months due to the pegs being occupied for up to 72 hrs.

You make a valid point that a Pike will generally only take weak or injured prey. But the Roach we hook are neither of these.
We do not want to hook, and play a healthy fish toward the net, only for it to be grabbed by these opportunistic Pike, cleverly looking for an easy meal.

On Poysers, perhaps one of the retention nets can be used to keep the Pike in for the Club to transfer, should one be caught, as it is not allowed without authorisation ?

Take a small carbon monoxide alarm along with you if using a heater in the bivvy.

Thankyou Alan, there does appear to be a lot of snags under the route the concrete bridge took from when the POD held matches along the stretch.
I wondered if it was due to concrete debris, that the water appears shallower than I recalled in the half dozen pegs downstream of the Derwent mouth. Like the flow has been altered in some way and a sand bank is forming.

As I have previously mentioned, most of the rabbits that I see go through the current Otter fence into the Tamworth Road or M1 embankment.
Has the option of fitting chicken wire to the lower part of the fence along these areas been considered to stop access of the rabbits onto the PoD complex ? This would not be a great expense, approximately £100 would cover 200 metre of fencing half a metre high, ty wrapped to the Otter Fence.
The only rabbits in the complex would then be captive and easier to control.
My thoughts are that by introducing the foxes is messing with nature and possibly creating further problems.

It sounds as though the fox introduction is a done deal, I hope it is not a decision that is regretted in the future.

Most of the rabbits I see on site in the late evening as I leave, usually dash through the Otter fence onto the motorway embankment or to the Tamworth Road hedge line. A few do go into the scrub areas of the complex.
Foxes are quite notorious for digging under the boundaries of chicken runs to reach their prey. Do you risk the integrity of the perimeter fence to Otters by having the foxes on site, if any such digging is left undiscovered ? And what will happen in times of a big flood ? Just a thought.

No problem with the cubs being introduced, just thinking of possible future consequences.

Alan, I have one concern as the cubs would potentially be captive within the boundary of the Otter fence.

Will the foxes be of the same sex ? Potentially there could be many genetic issues if it is a mixed sex pair, that could then interbreed with their own genetics in future years.

Looks good with possible easy access. I will have a proper look over the weekend if its not too overgrown as I have never fished below the weir. It used to be a short match length years back. How many pegs do you think will be re-created Alan ?

Guess the company will be assessing the saturated oxygen levels on the waters. Don’t believe this will be an issue on the larger lakes, but on Poysers it is possible the pump maybe required to stir the water and increase the oxygen levels.
As long as any catches are not kept out of the water for too long (glamour shots, weighing) I don’t see why the waters should close. It is the individuals choice if they fish for them in hot conditions and If the fish don’t want to feed, they wont get caught !
However on the Trent today the fish were biting freely, and all fish caught were returned without being retained in a keepnet.
Retaining the fish in nets in these conditions, is not in the fishes best interest.

Because of this the use of “particles” as feed will not be permitted on Pride and Olvers with Grimshaws remaining as a mixed fishery where the use of Pellet based feed is seen as preferred for carp fishing.

Certainly has a lot of Pike too !
Not sure about the Bream, I would like to know this too. I’ve never had one out, but I don’t night fish the venue often, and would like some in the water. Perhaps fish from Olvers or Pride Lake can be transferred, where they can be considered a nuisance to the die hard Carp angler ?
As regards Perch, I heard of a 4lb fish coming out recently, plus a 5 coming out of Redhouse, I never saw either these, but came from a good source though.
